New site! Please read and give it a thought!

Hey all!

I have some exciting news!!! :smiley:

Iā€™m making a tutorial site on Java, Flash MX, Frontpage, and Visual Basic(A friend has taken up this one).

Once i have these up, Iā€™ll be adding ones on Fireworks MX, Poser, Dreamweaver MX and a few others (some will be made by friends ).

I am currently on a friends server - there are no ads in my site now - , so i have most options available. If the site is a success i will purchase a proper domain and a large amount of space.

I may not know much about design, but I know enough to say that what you have so far lacks professionalism. The use of colors is too ā€œkiddy-ishā€, I donā€™t know how to explain it. Maybe tone it down, or go with another color scheme. Since this is just a splash page, you can still plan things over. Itā€™s better that I be honest with you now, before you go on with the rest of the site. I hope youā€™re not offended. My first webpage was horrible and some of my current ones isnā€™t too great either, but thatā€™s how you learn, from trial and error. Good luck. =)

no offense taken, thanks for letting me know, im planning to go white, its the simplest - i dont know that much flash to run the whole thing on flash and it would take way too much time.

Could you please recommend a colour combination? your site is way too advanced for me!

Is the logo good? i dont think its all that bad

Since youā€™re gonna use white then any darker color would go well with it. Or you can use one color and use different tones of it like darker and lighter. Your background is blue and your preloader is orange, then you have purple and yellow, its not consistent. Try to stick with a color scheme throughout your entire site. Your logo could use a lil work too, try to simplify it more. Try to think of shapes that relate to the theme of your page and just make a simple logo. You donā€™t necessarily need to have the welcome text, I would take that out and have your logo be the main focal point. Hope that help. =)

btw, I like your forum, was it easy to set up?
