I went through this also. If you want to go the extra mile and maybe get this client back and possibly earn the respect of the client. I would say whip up a sample layout in .jpg format. (make it something you can use elsewhere just in case this backfires). Then go through and point out the inconsistancies or whatever (dont bash tho). Show reasons why this is not good or whatever. Keep it simple but tactful and re-sell your services. And maybe show some other nice car deaer sites. Make it kind of a case study to show the possible effect of a poor website on their business.
I have done this before and it went over well and I not only got the job back but also gained the respect of the client which turned into referrals.
Wow… If everyone here could get paid that much for a site if THAT quality, we’d all be rolling in $$$.
that site cost like $100! and its a lot for that site
Thanks DDD.
The owner of the place is sharp and would be receptive to this, but unfortunately I kept getting passed off to his silent partner (who is a nice guy but doesn’t appreciate the value of internet marketing). I will be dealing a lot with organizations that this dealerships sponsers this year and word will travel pretty quickly. As much as I enjoy a good laugh I do feel bad that such a good business could be represented so poorly.
O yea DDD try to find a nice car dealership website. It’s nearly impossible. Online car sales account for 4-6% of the market and the average car buyer spends 5 hours online searching for cars but dealerships aren’t utilizing this market because 4-5 years ago car sales online were predicted as being as much as 40% by 2005 and the 4% is just a big let down in their minds.
Look I don’t really appreciate you guys all making fun of my work!
I spent a long time hitting keys and moving my mouse with my eyes closed.
  Just when I started to get settled down you come in. O my cheeks hurt
Argh! My eyes! My eyes!!!

Geez, this site is gawdy!! I cannot believe that you paid money for this site, when there are students who can do better, pro bono!!
This site came to my attention after a fellow designer shared the link, showcasing the work of the designer who undercut him on the bid for the job. I happen to know that the designer you missed out on produces quality work, so to see the childish site that you guys recieved makes me cringe… (please note that any recent surge in visits to the site (noted by the site counter) are likely by other designers who have come to mock and ridicule such an unprofessional site, and not to celebrate its design.)
I guess it just goes to show, that you get what you pay for, and you got yourself a crappy site… hahahaha…
ROFL. My stomach, cheeks and whole body hurts from reading this. I’m sure you’ve just sealed the deal that I’ll never be doing work for them. lol
That click here button is too funny…
What thoughts went into the designers head when choosing that??
Oh ok I want some text that looks like it might be from a halloween poster, you know all spooky and not alinged correctly. Then let’s make it blue and yellow. Now let’s make it big enough to fill the whole screen!
I hope for the sake of humanity that the image was stolen and not actually created just for this site.
How about the flaming HOT! deals gif. Now that’s a work of art.
Ouch!!!
Don’t copy and paste that image, because it is HOT!!!
It was so hot it blinded me.
Too bad it’s just a little too big to be my avatar. Maybe kirupa or one of the mod’s could make an exception.
That would be a cool avatar.
guys c´mon! give the person who made that site a break please!
… man I can believe it… invintory
Yeah I feel ya pain… Coming from a business standpoint it sounds like you should not give up on this one. Especially the residual could be worth $$$. Try to get a hold of the main guys email and email him the ford site http://www.ford.com/en/default.htm while it is not a auto sales site is shows its cars off nicely. And you are right there are not many good sites, but that too could be a selling point. Remember make it like a case study and not a bash. Anyway good luck and their site sucks. I would not buy anything from them.
No I’m not giving up on 'em just yet. They are a really great company, do tons of charity work, spend truck loads on advertising and the people are great. They even donate cop cars (with their logo on them of course) and are the biggest sponsers of sports teams in their area. I’d love to do business with them but I think they really would need to be educated (web wise) and I’d have to walk them through the process at a baby step pace which is really difficult for me at the time being. The sad thing is that they think what they have is worth while whereas the reality is that that site does the exact opposite of what a website should do. sighs Poor misguided car dealerships shrugs shoulders
Im upset lol thats is terrible, how can you pay someone $700 to make that, everyone here could make something infinately better! Thats poor, well, that company has just lost all its respect with that site!
That thing is so crappy, I could make it!
