So my friend said her computer broke and it won’t load windows any more, I take a look at it, and she’s right, i can’t get into anything, not safe mode, not normal windows, not the recovery console, it just hangs after the XP loading screen, so i put in the XP Pro disc and try reinstalling the OS, it installs, but it hangs when i reboot it to go into setup (the first time setup that you have to do when you first turn on the computer or get a new OS) i’ve tried three times now and cannot figure out what the problem is, any ideas?
I have not tried ubuntu yet, but I have tried installing XP pro and an illegitimate version of windows (For simple testing purposes) and i yield the same results both times. It hangs at the first time start up. I only found diagnostics for the hard drive, does the bios include other diagnostics? Keep in mind there basically is no OS since it won’t work so all diagnostics have to be done from within BIOS. Thanks
