hey guys i want to make a square or any shape grid…
but i don’t want the grid in my hole pic just in a little square but i want it to fade out… in photoshop 7.
thanks.
use a marquee with a feather value applied
well first off, you will have to create your “grid”
- Open up PS, create a new document (ctrl+N) set your image dimensions to something like 5x5 pixels (it all depends on the size of the grid you want)
- Create one half of the box (eg: the right-vertical line and the lower-horizontal line)
- goto Edit>Define pattern
now switch to the document where you want to apply this grid. (i recommend creating a new layer for the grid)
- make a selection of the area you want filled with the grid either with selection tools (magic wand, marquee, lasso) or by ctrl+clicking on a layer
- select your paint bucket tool (G, shift+G)
- in your options toolbar, select your fill as pattern, then choose the pattern you just created and click once in the selected are and voila!
It actually tiles that “half-completed” grid you created initially all over the canvas. PS is pretty neat huh?
EDIT
To make the grid fade, select the layer that contains the gradient and apply a layer mask (via the mini icons at the bottom of the layer palette) and use the gradient tool for the fade mask.
Black HIDES a portion while white UNHIDES. so if you have a gradient going from black to white as a mask, your image WILL have a faded look
i dont know what type of grid you want but this is how i make grids
Open a 400 x 400 pixel
Press D (Makes default colors Black / White)
Press X (Flips default colors)
Filter >> Texture >> Patchwork
Set Square Size to Max or what ever
Relief to Lowest
and then it should be a grid… to apply it behind an image… put the grid layer as the last one and set the image one with an opacity of like 70
Grr get off my name
