Playful ambiguity only works up to a point

there’s a thin line between a UI that feels inviting and one that feels like it’s hiding the rules from you. i usually like a little ambiguity at the start — it can make a product feel less stiff — but once someone needs to do something specific, the softness turns into friction fast.

has anyone found a clean way to keep that playful tone without making the first-time path vague?
