If you are a vegetarian, are you allowed to eat a salamander’s tail?
To frame this further, the salamander just jettisoned its tail for no reason. Given how their kind are assembled, there is no need to cry, for they will grow back a new tail really soon.
So, while you are eating something that physically belonged to a living thing, the living thing wasn’t harmed greatly in the process. The way I see it, it is no different than eating an egg.
