Hi there,
I’m going out on a limb here and trying someting out of the norm for me. I’ve been having a problem finishing the sites I get out of Photoshop and into Flash, so I’m hoping by doing something different and more exciting I might inspire myself to finish it this time.
I’m working on my portfolio site, and ATM, I have the main interface done in Photoshop, with a lot of 3D and a lot of After Effects left, but I want to get it checked out now because the 3D/After Effects portion is a small section of the site (although it will play a major role) Whats different for me is: its all black and white. Its always something I’ve wanted to do, but something I never bothered looking into. The question I’m asking you now is: is this interface good enough black and white? I’m hesitant to add color because the color is what I believe to always be giving me the headaches (its been quite linear so far, very little guessing).
Optional read, but will help with understanding:
The concept I’m working off of is “seasons” Summer, winter, fall, and spring, and thats what the icons I’m using for buttons mean in Japanese (or maybe Chinese, not quite sure) Anyway, the middle will have a 3D sign (thus the “3D here” text. What I hope to happen and animate is the change in seasons as you progress through the site. If you go to the Profile section, it will start snowing and snow will collect in certain places in the 3D scene (still thinking as to what it might be, I have some concept sketches). Then, if you go to the Spring section, the snow will melt and the 3D scene will become damp. On top of that, as you progress through the site, the time in the clock (center of nav bar) will speed up and slow down depending on whether you’re in transition inbetween seasons. I know this is a very ambitious undertaking, but I think it will lead to a very new and different user experience. Will all this work be worth it, or will most users just totally not understand the amount of animation/work put into making something like this work?
I apologize for such a long and winded post. Thanks for any tips on the interface. I’m very uncertain as to what to do with this black and white concept, and whether it will work at all :sigh:
EDIT: quick check? I forgot to change the title, more like extremely long check
