Simple shape tween

I have attached an fla, so you get what i mean. On the first keyframe, thats what i want the image to start out at. And on the last keyframe, I want the image to end like that.

I have tried shape tweening, but the lines do all sorts of weird things (as you can see i have tried) before it ends at the last keyframe.

I want it to smoothly go to the last keyframe without doing other stuff. I hope you get what i mean and can help me! thx!

im confused. so you want the first frame to go directly to the last with out doing all of that tweening?

if so, take out the stuff in between the key frames, and add a stop action at the end.

did this answer your question.

yea thats what i want it to do, but smoothly. Not like a sudden change get it?

do you want it to fade in with the new shape?

i’m not sure what you mean fade in, but i want the lines to smoothly (so like bend in slooowly) towards its final position…

so yea i guess i want it to fade in…

ok i assume then there is no other way to do this apart from frame by frame animation right?!

Use shape hints! That gives you control over how the shape morphs…use the same # of shape hints in your first and final shapes…I know i just read a post about this not too long ago, so try a search on shape hints.

ah yes it works, but only if the starting and ending shape are the same size? i don’ know why?! Do you think you’d be able to make one so i could see using the fla above?! thanks!

ah forget it, it works now! thanks very much

[Edit]
Oh no, when i change the end shape a bit everything messes up again…i must be doin somethin wrong. Can anyone tell me the step by step?

i just drew he first and last key frames, shape tweened them and put shap hints on all the corners. Is that all?

Even with shape hints shape tweens dont always turn of right so you may wany to break up the animation into two parts

here ya go the problem is you have to make your shape and then make a duplicate frame with the same shape then you edit the shape to the form you want it to take and then you apply the shape tween, keep in mind you cannot distor it to much or flash will do wacky things to achieve the shape tween just play around with it sometimes you wont need shape tweens but sometimes they are very handy.

just experiment a bit good luck
