First of all I have to say how great I think this place is, really glad I found it.
I recently picked up the interest of webdesign and decided to have a go at CSS, flash and photoshop.
I’m somewhat familiar with HTML and photoshop since before, as I’ve done maybe a handful websites over the past 6 years, mostly for school projects.
Needless to say I never really picked it up and got serious about it, until now.
Now I know I’ve only been playing around with this for about two weeks or so, but I really feel that this is something I could do for a living.
CSS really impressed me with how easy it is to both use and understand aswell as how powerful it is.
Flash literally made my jaw drop to the floor.
It has to be the most powerful tool for a webdesigner today(?), it really has unlimited uses.
This is without a doubt something I want to master and I will most likely spend this next year learning as much as I can to prepare myself when I graduate from school.
My questions;
-
I was browsing through the templates over at flashloaded yesterday night and I was really amazed by the quality of their pages.
Some are really clean and simple while others uses a lot of 3D graphics etc, but even with that in mind I have to ask; how much time of devotion would it take a flashdesigner to reach that level of skill? -
I’ve seen similar versions a lot of the following effect and I really like it;
http://www.learnflash.com/flashtutorials2.htm
I’m talking about the intro effect where the template comes spinning towards the screen.
Now, I’m curios, is this done in 3D or is it all done in flash?
Would be neat to know how it’s done.
I would link to more examples if I could, but I can’t remember which sites I saw that were using it, since I looked at literally hundreds of flash pages yesterday. -
Unfortunatley I can’t take any good classes this last year in school in webdesign, since my school only offers one class and there you’ll only learn the very basics of html and how to do blue websites filled with small gifs.
However, I can take that class, finish all the projects/assignments quickly and spend the other 95% of the time each session on what I want.
Question is; should I just stick to free i-net tutorials and this forum or should I invest in something like learnflash.com courses? -
Do you know of any more good communitys for flash designers?
Or perhaps for any kind of designers? (photoshop, css etc etc)
Thanks a lot for reading and I’ll be seeing you all around!
