Suggestions on Improving Forum Activity?

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to throw this out there for anybody to share ideas on how to improve the activity on this forum. The site’s traffic is doing well, but the forum’s traffic has dropped significantly in the past 2 years.

I think a lot of it has to do with the rise of sites like stackoverflow for technical questions, twitter/facebook for casual conversations, and dribbble for hanging out with other designers.

Despite that, these forums still have a lot of value for technical questions and discussions.

On my end:

I’ve been looking at ways to reduce the friction between having a question and posting it. You’ll see little Help floating things on the left side that take you to the forums. For a handful of tutorials, it will actually take you to the thread dedicated to that tutorial. Hopefully most tutorials will have the Help link take you to the relevant thread.

I’m also in the midst of redesigning the site slowly and continuing to remove clutter and bring more attention to the content. Those can’t hurt, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

Finally, contests! Look forward to seeing an animation-based contest in the next month or so!

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Kirupa :evil2:
