thats what we get for sending our second rate players over there. This is intended for the worlds greatest athletes. And not a team we assembled 2 weeks b4 qualifying out of middle tier players. This is what we get. I think we should send whatever team wins the championship. In this event we should have sent the detroit pistons. We will still bring home the gold but maybe next time we will send our best.
That would never happen… the Detroit Pistons wouldn’t want to go after winning the NBA championship, and I wouldn’t blame them. After winning the championship you don’t want to fly out to Athens and play again…

They haven’t played well in a while. They only narrowly beat Turkey in a test match. Turkey, who didn’t qualify for the olympics. And lost to Italy in another test match. And now Puerto Rico…
I normally don’t watch basketball but I think I’ll watch their next game when they’re up against the greeks. That might be another tough game for them with the stadium filled with spectators cheering for the home team.
I also think it’s nice to see a bunch of arrogant guys who call themselves ‘The dream team’ get a beating. Maybe they should change their name to ‘The nightmare team’… 
Why would they do that when they’ve dominated every prior Olympics?

I would do it hands down. And the old school players would and did. MJ and those guys. The way it is now, the players dont love the game they think the game has to love them.
I love the game of hoop so much, I would do what these guys do for minimum wage and play in the olympics and world games and whatever. There are a few throwback players like AI and Tim Duncan. But unfortunately our T-Macs, Shaqs and the like are very selfish.
If we sent T-MAC, Shaq, Kobe, Kevin Garnett, Steve Francis…I mean our elite. The olympics would not even be close.
Not afraid. There just isn’t any money in it. So they dont do it. Give me the old days of Isiah Thomas, Magic, Barkley and MJ any day. These players these days are pathetic.

All pro sports… not Hockey, those guys don’t get paid nearly as much and they still play their as$es off.
yea, but hockey has its issues too. But yea sports have become very glamorous, and kinda sissy like. No more Isiah Thomas’ breaking his wrist in the first half and then playing the rest of the game with his left hand and scoring 36 on the Lakers. Now when guys get a stomach ache or a toe twist they sit for 6 months, get MRI’s and therapy. And they rather drive their Bentleys around than play in the Olympics and represent the country that made all of this possible. I played overseas and I will tell you their pro athletes are hungry and do not have it near as good as US Pro players do.
