I think everyone knows when Olympic start. Most countries prepare for it way longer then 2 weeks. Why they just put a team in 2 weeks period? cause they always win?. Again and again “EGO” problem.

perhaps the most overlooked point of the whole topic: an olympic gold medal is not the life-long goal of basketball players worldwide. an nba championship (especially to american players) is far more important.
in wrestling, swimming, etc, etc, the ultimate goal is an olympic gold medal.

It was not always like that. We boast the highest talent in the game. Plus play it on the grandest of stages (the NBA). It used to be thought of as our house whenever or where ever we step on the court. But now its just the Olympics. But you are correct in regards to now.
You know something, it’s still crazy that team with the talent that US one posses couldn’t beat Puerto Rico. There has to be something going on there. I mean, I know that the US players arent expected to walk all over the other teams much like the 92 team did but still… this is crazy. And to loose by over 20, that’s just sickning.
yea…true. The team is not well balanced. We dont have any shooters. Ray Allen dropped out. We have a bunch of slashers and high flyers. Makes for a good And One team. But not a good organized team.
They should have called me up…lol…I can shoot the lights out and jump.
Most of the players that did go are all about dunking it everytime down the court. They’re missing the fundametals of the sport.

It’s kind of funny and sad at the same time. I mean there’s no doubt in my mind that the US has the best players in the world but they were just too cough lazy to represent their country.
yea pisses me off, because it makes the rest of the world look like they got better. In which they did a little bit. But the games should never be this close let alone any country beating us. And once we lose the gold its history and no one will ever look back and say “well they sent their third tier players”, instead it will read “Basketball juggernauts reduced to sniveling children”…lol
