i keep noticing how sci-fi assistants are usually written like a helpful roommate, while real AI tools still feel more like a very fast intern with a sharp memory and no common sense. maybe that’s fine, but it does change what people are disappointed by. do folks actually want the personality part, or just the part where it reliably gets the boring stuff done?
The “helpful roommate” vibe feels like an NPC dialogue box taped onto a spreadsheet half the time.
I don’t really want personality unless it’s doing actual roommate stuff (remembering my weird preferences, catching me before I do something dumb, nudging me at the right time). Otherwise just be a boring tool that nails the boring tasks and doesn’t hallucinate like it’s doing a creative writing side quest.
