I keep noticing how different the sci-fi version of a computer assistant is from the stuff we actually use. The movies give you one calm voice that understands context; real tools are more like a pile of autocomplete, search, and workflow glue with a chat box on top.
Maybe that’s fine, but it does make me wonder whether people want an assistant or just a faster interface. Has anyone found a tool that actually feels like the first thing, not the second?
