Web site desing, NEED YOUR opinion

Hi there guys,
I am desinging a webpage for Special Olymipcs hawaii…
and I need to present them a prototype by the end of the weekend. This is my latest draft…

Keep in mind its only an image… no rollovers or anything…
and I am “encouraged” to use those colors… more or less…

I am also trying to make it better than other special olympic sites… so please visit them and compare…
I respect the Kommunity, so I think I will get best advice here!

not that looks okay for that type of site…

the only thing is (for me) that the tabs look too bulky… i cant explain it very well but have you tried to to make the lines on the thinner…

urm i dunno… il have another look then get back and see if i can explain better

OK, not bad, not bad at all. :slight_smile:

Just a coupl eof things. First of all, on the menu tabs along the top, you’ve spelt ‘Information’ wrong, just a little typo. :slight_smile: The right hand edge of that is a bit out of alignment too.

I really like the picture with the white transparency and text, that works very well.

The only other thing I’m not convinced about is the green. Purely an aesthetic point of view, but I’m not keen on it. Nice fade outs etc with it, but the shade… Not sure.

Im no expert but there are some things that I personally dislike

-then circle on the logo, it seems off-perspective(if such word exist :smirk: ) and it needs the 3d-ish effect like you’ve done to the other objects in the logo.

-That green doesnt go with a white background, maybe a mild grey would do, but with white, noo

-lol, tiddy mistake, u spelt information- inforamation

-i dont really like the banner, its too plain, needs to be more…special?

otherwise, its a pretty good effort:)

hi,

overall it looks fine…

couple of things i noticed too…

i think your main menu would look better if it was positioned ever so slightly to the right so that it was aligned with everything else…

i can see why there is a space as it lines up with your space in between the nav and the content…

sub nav for sports should be moved up so that it reflects the nav above…odd space in there?

the actual logo for the games, the one with the tree beside it, would have been the option i would have used in the main header…

the circular group of people…you could have done something abstract with it…

could maybe use that as some sort of icon?

it looks more dynamic than just the figure one…

as far as images go, unsure if you have to use certain ones but i would have used more punchy images…

close ups of competitors, action shots etc…

i agree with kit about the green…

but i read your notes as to you have to use these colours… but you have said more or less…

from a usability point of view what you have looks like it will be very easy to use and navig8…

from an aeshetic point of view the layout is fine…

i just think it needs a little something to give it that extra bit of wow and this could be done with images, but as i have said unsure what you have to work with…

nothing wrong with it at all, but, and i am not being cheeky here, i think that it looks a bit dull with something that you usually asscoiate with being an exciting event…

please do not take this as being flamed but it is my first impression…

the site layout and everything else is fine…

The logo is kinda off balance…The circle is not 3d was that on accident?? I dont like the colors I thing a colored bgrd will do better. You should do a lil something more with the nav and the header. Maybe a lil more graphical. I like how things are laid out seems to have nice spacing. Also I would put a footer in there just for balance and to show an end to the bottom. Other than that this is a nice start I would not scrap but maybe massage it a lil bit.

I don’t really like any of those sites that you posted, but if I must pick one then I would pick this one:

I think it’s the cleanest out of all of those posted, but it could still use some more work. Some of the text is really small and hard to read.

As for your first draft, I don’t like the color scheme, reminds me of Christmas and the text on the top banner isn’t aligned correctly.

Yeah, I see what you guys mean, its pretty much what other people are saying (!I misspeled information!!!) The colors they want me to work with are that “green” and “red-pink” thing, I dont like em both . And I need to redo the logo… Okay thanks alot guys, I will post a new draft too.

what I do when a client gives me some whacked colors…Is I pick the lesser of the 2 evils make that one more dominant and use the other as highlights. What you tried to do was give them equal billing and that is what made that mixture look real christmas-like try bringing one f the colors to the forefront.
