Let me start this thread off by saying that I did absolutely nothing of merit this weekend, save a bit of cleaning. The reasons being Fallout 3, FarCry 2 and C&C Red Alert 3. Oh, and scotch on the rocks all weekend. That helped.
Fallout 3 is amazing. The graphics, even on a DX9 card, are even better than Oblivion. It plays a bit like it, too, except instead of swords, elves and castles, it’s set in post-nuclear war Washington D.C. and northern Virginia/Maryland. Funny, it doesn’t seem to different from how things are now. I never got a chance to play 1 or 2, and I don’t imagine that there’s a whole lot of direct continuity between them. So far, I give it 9.5/10.
FarCry 2 is monekyfun - the game seems to run a lot more smoothly than FarCry, as I think this one is based off the Crysis engine. Think GTA set in a war torn African nation. 8/10.
I’m a bit disappointed by C&C Red Alert 3. :soviet: I know it’s just a game and all, but the game makers seem a bit too sympathetic to Communism. That aside, the game seems to grid-based. I liked C&C 3 - Tiberium Wars a lot. This one, not so much. You can’t do as much with the camera, and while the plot is interesting, the gameplay isn’t as good as Generals, Zero Hour or Tiberium Wars. I’ll still play it, but it just seems… meh, compared to the last few offerings. I blame EA. 6.5/10.
