What's the fastest way to lose weight?

I agree Pinx, but it’s not exactly a “fad” diet - it’s been around for about 15 years…

Choline and carnitine is the best fat loss duo and is safe!

Off course you could take Stacker 2 or Ripped Fuel but when I took those it may have worked but it isn’t good for your liver and it destroys all the H2O in your muscles if you don’t drink enough water.

This all will work must faster and better with a steady excersize plan, I could customize you one that I have set up some clients with if you want me to?

My little brother told me he was hella thirsty so I guess I’ll pass the word on.

hey dan, that’d be awesome =)

those fat burner pills, where can such be obtained? and at what cost?

Here are some products that contain Ephedra plant (“ma huang”) A.K.A. Ephedrine Alkaloids:

Metabolife, Hydroxycut, Herbalife, Herbalite, Stackers, Ripped Fuel, Extreme Ripped Force, Diet Fuel, GH Fuel, Herba Fuel, Metabolife, MetaboLift, ThermiCare, ETA Stack, Xenadrine RFA-1, Ultimate Orange, Thermogenic Power, and BetaLean.

The FDA is currently taking action to require manufacturers to place warning labels on the front of all products containing ephedra about the risks of heart attack, seizure, stroke and death.

Of the adverse events reported, 47% involved cardiovascular symptoms, while 18% involved the central nervous system. Hypertension was the single most frequent adverse reaction, followed by tachycardia, stroke and seizures. Ten of the recorded cases resulted in death and 13 events produced permanent disability. In total, the FDA has reported over 40 deaths and over 800 serious side effects linked to Ephedrine.

If you let your little brother take it and he is under the age of 18 it could stump his growth. It can also cause him to become dehydrated and pass out (especially while driving), cannot be taken before you sleep or you will become an instant insomniac and may cause some users to break out.

I am an informed trainer at Pure Fitness (my local gym) I am only saying this to help you out, I am not trying to be a jerk telling you what you are doing is wrong, it will work, but there are too many risks involved, there are other prefered methods. If he does keep on taking it don’t let him take more than 24mg a day.

oki then  back to the stairmaster :stuck_out_tongue:

Stick to a lot of meat, preferably chicken and fish, not too much beef (steaks or organic hamburger meat is fine). Low sugar and fat. You need carbs for energy, but don’t over do it. Vegetable and fruit is a need. Vitamins and minerals, get them all! I take SeaSilver for all of my daily vitamins and minerals, I also take flax oils which is good for you immune system which cleans out your liver and helps you from getting sick. Choline and carnitine is what else I take to get the ripped look, all you 6-8 pack people probably know what I mean if you go to the gym. It will lean out your muscle and show definition as well as a lot of fat (especially in the abdominal area).

okey, but a lot of those products can’t be bought in denmark I think

He’s 19 but still my little brother, and he drives a delivery truck for a furniture store. Hahahaha!

Sorry guys, this may be long! There are tons of opinions on how to lose weight so, I thought I would bring my expertise to the forum!! I am certified in this type of thing

your advice teet is good, if you start cutting back to much to quick, your body will cling to every ounce of body fat and start to burn your muscle instead, your metabolism will slow quickly… you want to keep that!! It is up to you if you want to start with the diet first or with the workout first…totally a preference thing!

2-3lbs a week is healthy after the initial changes in your diet…if you are over weight, you will lose a significant amount of weight with even small changes. 8-10 8 ounce glasses of water a day and when you are working out you should consume 8 ounces for every twenty minutes of exercise past your target heart rate (which is 85% of your heart rate) Mathmatically and logically, calories you expend must be greater then calories you consume.

eating 5-6 small meals a day will boost your metabolism and you will burn more fat. Up your fiber intake and protein intake-lower your carbs and your fats. you should never feel hungry…dont completely avoid foods that are bad for you becuase you will fall of the wagon and over indulge. Portion control is a huge factor, restuarants etc… give way to much food these days! 2 liters of fluid also equals one pound, obviously you do not get rid of a sode bottle worth of fluid every day if you did you will be dehydrated! even though 3,500 calories equal one pound-DO NOT try to expend 3,500 just by working out, you will have a heart attack and quickly! It must be an egual balance of diet and exercise.

You should take a day and eat how you normally would-count those calories and subtract an amount that you feel is suitable and attainable-say if you eat 2500 for the first few weeks you subtract 500-cutting down right away to an 1500-1800 calorie diet will deprive your body! Not good.

The one thing they repeatedly told us when I became certified in the fitness fields, is that it is okay to cheat as long as you dont blow the whole day or week for that matter because of it! Set attainable goals, maybe instead of setting a goal weight, you set a goal pair of pants you want to wear by a certain date.
At some point you may hit a plateau, that is when you want to change it up and shock your body by changing your workout or cutting back more calories etc…

Cardio will help you lose the most actual calories, in turn fat but muscle building is needed and muscle weighs 4x more then fat, so you may look adn feel better but weigh around the same! Cardio machines give a mathematical equation on weight lose, they do not actually know how many calories you have burnt…It takes the weight you put in, the level you do thigns at and the amount of time and gives you what it thinks you burned, they are usually a little high but an okay indicator of caloric burn…

BTW pinx–the Robert Atkins actually died from a head injury that was a result of a fall on the ice, he was in a comma and never came out of it, Fester made the same mistake in the thread about teh atkins diet the other day!

Not all fat burners are bad! Ephedra can be scary if used improperly or with poeple w/heart disease etc… People who are bigger see a better result because they have more excess fat to shed, then those who feel they are 10-12 pounds over weight. I have said it a few times, your body wants to hold on to its nutrients and it feeds off of muscle and fat when we dont eat, so as we all know it is much easier to put on the it is to take off!!! Avoid appetite supressants you will only slow down your metabolism. Check with your doctor before a fat burner to make sure you are in okay shape health wise!

Hope that helped, if you have any questions, I would be glad to tell you what I have been taught, learned or seen in gyms etc…

I’m a Biology major and will be working with a professor next year…I’m interested in this effedra thing. My professor does brain research (he gives meth to rats haha!)…maybe I could set up a project to test the effects of effedra?

Has anybody used NO2? I hear it’s supposed to be like the next creatine.

Nitrous Oxide Fuelings before the gym, would that be healthy?

I’m going to stick with the whole “Stop Eating” idea.

I have a friend, fairly wide, who is on the Atkins Diet, he says that it works out fine for him. Even though he cheats like, everyday, he still manages to loose up to 2 pounds per week. Some say that diet has side-effects later in life from the stomach (or somewhere down there). But I’d recommend the diet because I’ve seen it work.

Just increase the intake amount of vegetable, fruits, and meat. Decrease the intake amounts of carbohydrates, sugars, and fats.

“Stop Eating” isn’t going to help, might as well eat a bunch and stick your finger down your throat after you eat if you are going to take that path.

Lol, that always works. Be annorexic for a week.

you mean bulimic, if you’re going to induce vomiting.

did you know…

that you don’t have to vomit to be considered bulimic. you can also be bulimic if you exercise excessively as a way to purge your body!

holy crap, i learned something in my lifetime health and fitness class. two points for me

Is lifting weights a must? For now I am just eating less carbs and jogging two miles a day.

I have weights at home (conveniently ;)) so I use 'em.

and my mothers stairmaster too…

sushis…lifting weights is not a must, but I would highly recommend it.

Personally, I find lifting weights to be a lot more fun than trudging through 40-60 minutes on an exercise bike or stairmaster.

Think of it this way. Lifting weights helps to increase your lean muscle mass, which in turn means that you’ll burn more calories at everything you do…including sitting on your arse and watching tv or cruising through the forums. Recent evidence has also found that lifting weights significantly reduces your chance for heart disease. It was once thought that only cardio exercise was good for that.

Obviously, you might have a problem if you don’t have any weight lifting equipment/money to join a gym. In this case, I would still recommend some strength training…there was this one professional football player (can’t think of his name at the moment) that was huge and ripped and all he did was 5000 sit ups and 2500 pushups a day

bottom line: lift weights if you have access to them, if not keep doing what your doing and add in some crunches, pushups, pullups, etc.
