Hi

This is my first project for a small South African Start-Up its not yet complete but the client seems to like it, check it out at www.merloni.co.za/aadil/.

Just a note: in the Portfolio section holding down your mouse over the project image will open a menu, alternatively - simply click the left or right half of the image to move forward or back.

Thanks.

Hey there!

Wow, this seems a really nice site! I like the feel to it.

No bugs that I can notice, but I’ll point out what I sort of don’t like about this site:

-The preloader. The shape is ok, I guess, but what annoys me are the flying numbers. It’s a cool effect, but maybe you should’ve built something using either that, or just the loading bar. There is another thing that I don’t agree with, but I’ll touch that in a later point.

-The menu bar could’ve been more interesting, maybe draggable, or maybe some more effect to the white line, but nothing really to worry about. Looks awesome just the way it is!

-The color palette seems somewhat uninspired. On one hand you have this white-red-black theme which I totally dig, but then you come up with some really contrasting (in a bad way) colors, like the pale blue from the preloader (and also in the “Home” section), the green color on the “next”, “flip” or “pull” rollovers. This, for me, is the section where you lose most your points. But hey, it’s just me, and if my color eye is just wrong, ignore it. ^^

-Maybe another background? I really can’t say for sure, works fine just the way it is.

Don’t get me wrong, I started out with the bad parts because they were fewer, and also so that we may finish on a happy note ^^

-The transitions I like. Nothing too flashy, nothing too time consuming, just subtle and gets the job done just fine. The site has a rigid feel to is, sort of, and I’m more of an organic dude, but rigid works just as well.

-Navigation is flawless, or at least I couldn’t identify any real flaws. Very clear, very easy to use.

Well, what can I say? It’s just a very good, solid, well thought out site, and the customer should be proud for having employed you.

Very well done!

Cheers

I wish I had more time to comment - but from what I can tell - that site is pretty flippin sweet!

Nice job! :thumb:

The only thing is that some of the transitions are a little long … (between portfolio sections … and just simple transitions over-all)

mastermode - Thanks a million for that insightful critique. I’m hoping to get some concrete feedback form the clients and combined with the recommendation’s I get here I’ll aim to give the sight more polish.

Dude the site is awesome. I like what you did. Only thing, that preloader gets just a little annoying like after the 5 time. I just couldn’t take it anymore. But great work!

I agree with Zaiah, when I first saw the preloader I was like oh wow, cool, good idea, but after seeing it a few times for some reason it didn’t stand the test of time, it really started to grate

mastermode makes some great points. i especially agree with the preloader (annoying boxes, maybe make them clear white?) and the color choices.

i love your navigation, the way it animates on rollover.

the pull down scrolling doesn’t really work great. seems like it only scrolls one line for each pull. can you make it so that it autoscrolls while you’re pulling and stops when you let go? also might be cool if the scrolling gets faster the further you pull the cord…

nice start

cool beans…

Very nice work.

Preloader / Sub section loader is extremely annoying though. It really threw me off. I tried to stay objective, but the loader made me like the site a lot less than I should have.

I love it! Congrats evil! I’ve just one critique on the design. It seems to me that there’re too many fonts: I’d take out the font Coolvetica and stick with the other two.

Just my 2c.

Nice details!
