3d compositing...WIP

the background dosent do it justice…

yep I was trying to wrap some good feelings around those large statues but I can’t do it either… they are just to big, some suggested large refering to LOTR’s but I think I am going to go with a more natural size statue… you convienced me…:D… I know what you mean about their cloaks, I just gave them a color so that I could separate them when I actually reverse engineer the scene and for texturing… of course you know there are no textures or surfaces here yet… this is all just default stuff…

I think that is what I will do first just add the bump mapps in to get texture to everything… then add in color images and grit… etc…

wish I could tell you… I think you just get this image in your head and try to make it in whatever medium you enjoy… wish I could mat paint tho…
if I could combine those 2 together I could pull off some cool stuff…

wish I could come up with something more futuristic but I want a feeling of being on this planet as apposed to off world…
altho I could say that the background is still plain jane… no surfaces there either… and the AA is low levels so need to rerender that as well…

I am going to post a render of normal statues sizes and filled in forground later today… I had to do some gardening for the Wife… so a break was had…
see ya

ok quickie update… smaller statues… (6ft tall) and I finished off the forground by adding in another set of stairs… I figured stairs would open it up more and make it seem like a larger area, besides it was an easy addition to make… peace

thats looking very nice man… everything is coming together nicely…

I do think the soldier statues do look better smaller, but i think thats too small?? (complicated arent i , lol) i’d say make them tall, like human tall, “god like” but not freaky giants, lol get what i mean (you said 6 feet, maybe try 7), man other than that it’s looking pretty awesome.

I’d try even bigger than 7’. They look puny now. Also, instead of adding a second stair case, you could maybe ornament the first one. For example, instead of just having the stairs come up, they could taper a bit, so that they are wider. so, instead of:

you would have

type of thing. Aside from that, they kick ***.

AArrrggggh, ok… that’s it I am going to call this puppy done,
the ‘construction’ modeling is done… I need to stop cause I am starting to get brainfry… :ro: if anyone sees something amiss or a possible addition let me know cause the fork is out and i am going to stick it in…
now comes the hard stuff… Lighting and surfacing…and prepairing the background scene for it’s final render… :trout:
then when all that is over… i will deconstruct the models to add in the aging
and ravages of war, which is what this image was all about in the begining…
why do I feel like this is only the begining of this project… :tb:
gp

hehe , brainfry … ive had a few of those over the past years…

Models “gods’” look ideal size now, and the rest of the piece looks really nice, that outerwall idea worked in the end didnt it…

from a modelling perspective i think you have done enough, now time for texturing (or is it textured?) and then like you said lighting… which will i think if done right will make the image look amazing…

congrats and thanks for showing your progression up to this point… keep going and showing your steps as i’m sure many members here appreciate seeing what and how it can be done.

cheers :thumb:

Outstanding result  I really like how this project has turned out. Just add the lighting and texturing with regards to the bg and it would have all been worth it. Hey Paul, have you had time to do something similar?

no chance minimal… lol

i did work on a battle a while ago (involving a 3d tree with some tree stumps… cant find it atm) but didnt turn out as well as i wanted it… if i find it ill post it.

but nothing really to the scale gpdesigner has, takes alot of time to work on 3d.

Yeh, I can definitely see

Looks good, but I still don’t like the second staircase :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Can’t wait to see this thing when it’s all wrapped up!
