Hey guys, tis I! (/me hears countless people shout “who?!” :D) Anyway, for those that don’t know, I’m currently doing graphic design on my Art Foundation course at Chelsea College of Art & Design in sunny London. For my final piece I decided to do a site for the very course that I’m on. Originally I had planned to do a new site for the college (the old one, which is REALLY boring and crap is here: http://www.chelsea.linst.ac.uk/) but time contraints meant I had to scale down my ambitions somewhat and stick to this one aspect of the college.
It’s in on Thursday afternoon, so there isn’t much time for me to make changes, but it would be cool to get some objective (and knowledgable) opinions - maybe I’ll include some of them in my sketchbook! There’s always the possibility the college might want to buy it off me afterwards, so maybe I will be able to make the changes after all!
This is my very first FULL flash site (I’ve done some small ones before but never followed them through… kinda… gave up :D), so any comments or ideas you lot have would be greatly appreciated! :thumb:
when i entered the site, however, i immediatley noticed the overwhelming amount of orange used on the bottom half of your site.
this seems to control the entire presence of the site, and, although it is well laid out, manages to look a little tacky. try softening it with more gray or white.
the top half, though, is well thought-out and executed. i like the way the content loads in and how simple it is. consider redesigning your scrollbars though, they arent worthy of the rest of your site.
your preloader was also great, original and simple. kudos.
hehe, thanks. I can’t help the orange I’m afraid! TheLondon Institute is undergoing a major image revamp. There are 5 colleges that make up the Institute and Chelsea was landed with orange (Pantone 021, #FF5C00, for anyone that’s interested)… so I had to get it in there somehow
