BEst Flash Book

I did a search but…

I just couldnt decide which book would be the best for teaching me about all aspects of flash an all rounder. With special effects, action script, basic stuff the whole lot all explianed to me. Is their a book that will do my money justice because if their is i would like to know!.

Thanks for all the replies if any :stuck_out_tongue:

  1. colin mooks 2nd edition… flash action script, the definintive guide
  2. macromedia flash mx actionscripting, advanced training from the source

…both sound just high end but both have excellent lead-in from the start

flash 5. Samurai

Colin Moock, unquestionably. What this guy doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing.

I’ll get my mom to order me colin mook or however you spell it then.

Des he cover most stuff? Cause i just wanna re-cover the basics cause there is bound to be stuff i missed.

well it all depends what you want to learn about flash, you see i dont know if colin mooks book covers animated tweens among other things, ive seen his book on borders and its all text there basically any illustrated screenshots, i personally like to have a visual guide as well as a written one, i suggest you get a begginers book that explains the basics of flash like creating a graphic, a movie clip, and how to create tweens then you can get into action script, ive been using flash myself for 4 years already and im still not that great with AS.

Kitty isnt colins book about AS only??

Anyways whatever you do get a begginers book adn tehn work your way up to more complicated things like AS once you get to know the basics better good luck :beam:

i extremely enjoyed Using Flash MX by michael hurwicz. It starts with using basic flash stuff, but goes quickly and clearly through everything, and 1/4 of the way into the book he starts tackling A/S. It also is great for reference once you have read it because everything is in nice tables and lists. Id recommend it for fast learners.

I guess I spaced over the beginner part of your question somehow and only saw you wanting thorough treatment about AS w/ special effects… “from the beginning”…

For the in general starter type:
MM’s “flashMX, training from the source” is good and thorough one of those All arounders… as well as the “FlashMX Bible”…

I personally like the Flash MX Action Script Bible - but that’s just me. It’s a bit overwhelming at first but it takes you from knowing NOTHING and teaches you a ton of stuff. NOt too mention it’s a great reference book for once you get better.
