Hi all, I am very interested to know how this effect has been generated. As it would really suit one of the designs that I am currently working on. If anyone has a tutorial for this I would be very pleased, equally if you can set me off in the right direction. Look forward to a valuable reply
It appears to be an animated graphic in a movie clip that is activated by the over state of the button. Create your graphic that will be wide enough to scroll across the button. Place it in it’s own movieclip and tween (or increment _x value in actionscript) so it moves in the direction you desire. Have a keyframe at the end with a stop(); in it. Place this movieclip you just made in a separate layer of your button in the “over” keyframe. If you want the text name of the button to always appear, place it in a layer above your animated movie clip.
Ok thanks for the reply, but how did they achieve the : what looks like pixelated effect that works its way accross the button. If you have an idea I would love to know it.
More than likely it was built in Fireworks or Photoshop using Pixelate filters etc. Example: Start with a new file, apply a gradient to a layer, select an area of the gradient and run your pixelate filter. There are other ways to achieve this but it really comes down to your skill and creativity.
