I think macromedia/adobe should lower the price alot, when i first began design I couldnt afford the whole studio, what am i talkin about I still cant afford the whole studio, I just have flash dreamweaver and photoshop.
just can’t imagine not using macromedia
I don’t agree. The cost of Flash apps and sites are going up, why would the price for the program go down?
Well you don’t have to choose one or the other, even though its entirely possible. I use a couple of open source applications in conjunction with the flash IDE.
are the scripting capabilities the same as in the flash environment
What do you mean by scripting capabilities?
not too good with the lingo I am afraid, what I meant is wud u be able to add AS and make it work the same way as you would in the macromedia IDE
Yes, absolutely. Only problem is the lack of a timeline, but if you’re used to other programming languages, you should be able to fit right in. Using a combination of the IDE and other open source programs is probably the way to go though. Right now I use SE|PY, a nice lightweight AS editor in conjunction with mtasc. I’m looking into using Flasc too, but 'm waiting for a project that will benefit from it…
I think the combination of what goes into the developing these applications and the fact that the applications are for industry users is why the costs of purchasing these products are what they are at. It is not suppose to be targeted to mainstream users although many people have Adobe and Mac products (and most people have it illegally).
As much as they hurt, the prices are fine. But They need to take a look at the cost of educational versions. I simply refuse to pay for any software whatsoever whilst i’m learning - proper deals should be created with recognised training providers. The flipside being, they have some guaranteed moolah coming their way when I purchase everything next year.
I think the prices should be raised, security tightened (for what it’s worth), and a decent educational system created. The more that’s done to remove as much of the ‘kiddy’ stigma attached to the industry as there is, the better.
But as trends show, flash is no longer just an industry tool.More and more people who just want to be creative and have fun , are using flash.I bet half the “flashuers” on this site are hobbiests. In my case anyway I am one of those. And who knows as my skills progress and I amass enough knowladge ,I will take up any major work that comes my way
