If someone’s starting off fresh… knowing nothing about Macromedia’s product… are they better off learning Flash5 or FlashMX? I’ve been gettin mixed reviews on both… if someone have dabbed in both… please do let me know which one is better…and easier.

Id say if youre going to learn flash learn mx its basically the same as flash 5 in terms of animation the only diffrence is actionscript and a few new tools other than that the concept is the same and also some of flash 5 actionscript is deprecated wich is not good so if youre gonna learn, learn the latest and dont waste your time learning something old and outdated thats my opinion.

I was asking the same Q, but Flash 5 or MX, I think Mx is easer and better than 5 like adding a scroller…etc
Mx is more “advansed” with actionscript.
I choos MX like me who is very new in flash i found out that meny pro flash designers i met they recoment using Flash MX becouse its Flash 5 but they fix meny thinks on !

Hey I appreciate the feedbacks. I’ve been reading up here and there on Flash5… but haven’t tried anything yet… I guess I’ll switch over to my MX and work from there… thanx.

MX is actually easier to script in than Flash 5. Just ask anyone who has switched over 
The main changes between 5 and MX are interface… and the coding scheme. Actionscript has changed a lot from Flash 5 to MX. And MX supports server-side flash better than Flash 5 too.
I say go with MX.
