They did it just to be “cool”
there are a bunch of things it can relate to, one of the more interesting I think is that the release coincided with MM’s 10th anniversary. Though, technically MX is nothing more than cool letters used to describe their cool products in an attempt to make them more cool and desirable for purchase.
