Logo feedback

Just soliciting some feedback

It’s a concept for the Counterform Graphics Design club here at SCAD.

quite good, but i think it lacks of color…

all logos should lack color in the concept phase. color has the ability to emotionally manipulate and taint your audience, and when choosing a design, can often get in the way of the art. people make decisions/react to the color used rather than the lines or composition, so it’s always important to start off with black or white.

once a concept is chosen, and the design itself is accepted and has recieved the ā€œstamp of approvalā€, then it’s easy enough to go back and add color.

also, I’ve found the same concept applies to website design, and often present clients with ā€œgrayscaleā€ versions of their sites, to nail down the design concepts. you’d be amazed at how many times I’ve submitted a design in one color to have the clients despise the ā€œdesignā€, only to change up the scheme and suddenly have them love it. color is a powerful tool.

sorry if I wasn’t more clear about the color issue :stuck_out_tongue:

oh thanks for this…

In my opinion, the first design has more impact. For the most part it’s down to the name underneath.

The third one I feel has the text too small, it’s like an afterthought. It fades into the logo too much at a first glance, and that is what most people will probably be giving it to start with.

Number two… It’s good in that it’s different, but somehow the alignment of the text doesn’t work for me. Maybe because of the large amount of white space it leaves above before the logo image begins? That could be what’s throwing it off.

The first one is probably a more traditional arrangement, but I think it works the most effectively.

Thanks for the feedback, both of you.

So, what do you think of the logo proper, aside fromt he type treatment? Is it successful?

I initially wanted to go with something much more curvy, much more serpentine, but when this idea popped in my head, it seems to work. There’s something ā€˜familiar’ about it, though I don’t think I’ve seen it before. For me, that’s a plus, because it’s immediately comfortable to the viewer.

But, that’s just my take, so I’m open to any and all analysis

I like the logo. I guess I would have to go with 3 based on the placement of the text. The other 2 the text placement looks odd to me. But the logo is nice. I hope you dont mind but I played with your logo to provide a look I thought would be a nice alternative to the other 3 (rather than try to explain). It is just a suggestion.

btw tried tomatch your font. I thought it was weezer…so sorry for butchering the font but hopes u get the point

Not a bad suggestion at all!

thanks…I think it keeps the eye focused on that fine specimen of a logo you have there. but that is just my .02

i like the first you did, but i do not like 3divas at all, sorry…

The logo itself… I’m really reminded of Thor’s avatar right now, but that could be because it’s 5pm, I’ve been stuck at work all day and my eyes are crossing. :sure:

I’d say that the C is way more visible than the F, though that may well be the intention all along. It leaves a lot of white space. However, that could get filled up with colour once you do that (I don’t know, obviously), so the point may be irrelevant…

In all, I like it. As I mentioned before, it’s quite ā€˜traditional’ in some senses, but it’s still visually appealing and tells you what you want to know.

totally agree on that colour issue you were mentioning before. nice run down on how it is.

About the logo:: i think what you did with combining the C and F in that particular way is awesome, at first i didnt see it , but thats some nice composition work.

Now for the company name , i must say only no3 gives the logo any justice, but i also agree that its too small (a after thought as kit said) it is pretty hard based on the length of the name and the shape and angle of your logo. maybe have the name run down the F shape? have it centre below the logo ! or have it to the right of the logo centre. (all straight NOT angled)

why not angle the text you ask? , because i believe that type at a angle gives the reader a off balance feel, straight is so much more stronger as well, it will compliment the angle feel to the logo making the angle stand out while keeping the text legible and powerful.

Bleu/Q!! Nice to see you again man, I like the third logo you did the best, personally. It’s a nice clean design. I really like it. Nice job as always.

first is best by far, but nice to see other ideas with it to support.
3D’s suggestion is a good one for sure…maybe consider that one too.

Unflux! Love the new look!

thx! i figured it was time for something new
