Hello,I’m looking for a website design quote. The project was started by a designed but never completed. I just need the main page completed.I’m lacking a features section and a section identifying hosting plans. I have the PSD files and all of the graphics. You may preview the existing site at http://xxxxxxx.com. Please provide me a price range, requirements, etc. for this project. If possible, please give me a timeframe and price quote on completing the existing project and one for a complete re-design.
Thanks for your consideration,

Hi Chris.
Are you looking for just the design? Or the whole build of the site?

I’d like quotes for both, if possible.
(1 page only…the main page)

Hi Chris.

I am going under the assumption that this is just a template needed for the build and no coding for the dynamic content.
I would charge my normal rate of 80$ an hour to either finish off the design or redo it. Same applies for the template build of the CSS/HTML. If any backend work is needed, I would source that out to a guy that I normally use. His rate is 120$ an hour for PHP work. Just so you know, the site that you are developing is a major undertaking. A site like this could run in the neighborhood of 60-90 thousand to develop professionally.

Unfortunately I can not give you an estimation of total hours, because you have not really provided me with that much information on details.

Thanks for your inquiry.

I’m not sure where you’re getting you pricing but is very expensive. $60 to $90 thousand?? You need to re_check your numbers. I have a MSDN and MCSE certification. I’m just not fluent in graphic design. Good luck with your outrageous rates.

I just wanted 1/2 of 1 page finished. That’s nothing major. Trust me.[INDENT]

Chris,

I love people like you, You keep me in business.

First, lets look at what entails setting up a hosting company.
A: You need to register your company with a registar provider, which is not cheap.
B: You need to set up an e-commerce part of the site that bills for the hosting. Again, not cheap.
C: You need to pay a designer good money to get a professional looking site. Not cheap. You want to hire a 12 year old and pay 300 bucks? You get what you pay for.
D: You need to pay a developer to code the backend. This entails the the registration process, the control panel to maintain the domain and so on. If you can find some one to do this for less than 30,000, good luck with getting anything to work.
E: Then comes advertising costs. Do you expect to just launch the site have customers come pouring in? There are thousands of hosting companies out there already. What makes you think yours is going to be any different? From the looks of what you are going to charge in your rough draft, you better be offering something nobody else is, because I can get a shared plan out there for 4 bucks a month.

Second, where the hell do you get off in telling me my prices are outrageous? My prices are actually very normal for design and coding. Have you tried to get any bids from any design agencies out there?
My bet would be that the quote would be in the 60 to 90 range. You need to wake up and realize that what you want is not cheap.

I too have a MCSE, MCP, MCSA, A+ by the way. That doesn’t mean anything in the web design world.
Even if you just said you wanted half a page finished for design only, the quote would have still been the same. 80 an hour is my fee.

Good luck!
