Ok, if you look at this pic below you will see the xmen cover. Notice the background? The yellow/orange effect? Found it? I’m sure you did. Now. How to do that in photoshop?

Heh a minute or two w/ flash using the tutorial and a few other methods:
You know what looks really cool? Try merging all the layers down (Layers-> Merge Visible) and then radial-blurring the image on process ‘Spin’ with about ‘10’ as your ‘amount’. The finished, below
