But, most religions will argue that their supporting book/texts are not fiction. Am I right that scientologists admit that it’s fiction and just don’t care?
There was a kid in my class who claimed to be a scientologist and goes to classes. He got so angry when trying to argue about religion with some other kids that I told them all to shut up. He absolutely hates religion because he thinks it’s a huge waste of time.
I don’t get how someone could hate something that I love so much. Sure you can believe that it’s not real or whatever, but I don’t see why you have to go out and try to push your beliefs and try to take away my faith or the faith of others with such arguments. It does’t seem right to me to take something away from someone that means very, very much to that person just so you can try and prove yourself correct.

well my friend ( the scientologist ) is actually very successful in LA as a musician and as an actor. Which is interesting in the sense of that scientology phylosophy is “so you have a drinking problem?..well stop!” and that its just that easy. And for some problems I think it can add a certain amount of clarity twords your personal and professional goals. I think Scientology just seems to be the vessel.
I wish people could come together and work with eachother without the need for religous assosiation.

People do work together all the time without religous association.
Personally I think there are a few psychos that ruine it for the rest of the world. There are the Muslim Extremists that make the entire Muslim world look bad. There are also a lot of hypocritical Bible thumping Christians that make us look bad. And don’t forget the pedofile Catholic priests. It all causes stereotypes and misconceptions. But this is how it always has been and probably how it always will be. All we can do is be understanding ourselves and represent our own religion the best we can. Personally I don’t think there is anything wrong with trying to convert someone to your own religion, it’s just when it the person doing the converting is ramming it down the other persons throat.

I’d ask that you stop this discussion. I realise that it’s a topic some are keen on, but if we are not allowed to discuss the various aspects of other religions, we should not be discussing this one. RevoGiant asked a question and it was answered. If anyone else chooses to discuss their opinions on the sanity or ligitimacy of any religion, I’ll be closing the thread.

Yar, when I was researching eugenics*, a few people I spoke to associated it with scientology…I don’t know enough about scientology to get what was meant by it tho…

hey how come religion and such aren’t allowed to be discussed as long as its not offensive? Just wondering why the policy is in place? I think thats not bad or good but interesting.

Imho all religion comes from the same source : fear.
In the old times, ppl didn’t know what stars were, what that “sun” was, what happend when ppl died… All religions focuses on giving answers to these difficult questions. Many ppl NEED an answers to the big questions in life to live at peace with themselves. This is not to offend someone, or say that one religion is better then the other… Ppl just can’t stand it to say " i don’t know". Where do we come from? “?God? made us”, “we came from a far away planet.”, “We crawled out of the sea.”… But rarely the answer will be “i don’t know, and i don’t need to know”…
Where science (true science) fails, religion wins…
If you need to believe certain things before you can “live”, that is ok. Just let everyone else decide for themselves.
Certain groups that call themself a religion, are actually big moneymachines where the cash always rolls up hill right into the pockets of the guru’s that invented these religions.
But everyone has their own choice to make…
I personally stopped whith any religion what so ever, if i look around in the past, present and the near future, religion has and will always be a base for conflict. Look around, more then half of the bad things happening are in name of some sort of “religion”.
Very well said, and tottaly agree. I guess you could say, humans require meaning, and strive to find meaning in many differnt way, the majority of this being through religion, and sometimes as xylitar said, people take advantage of this, and make money out of it, and thats just wrong. But is scientology one of this kind of groups?
And the other half would be because of ignorant people, guess you should just end it all to get away from everyone! 
It would be a sad day when people don’t stand up for what they believe religious or otherwise. I think scientology is kinda weird [whisper]and wrong[/whisper]… but I’ve only ever noticed that celebrities, or ppl in the Cali area are doing it. I think they believe that you can do what you want when you want, cause it’s your life… and that’s the appeal to celebs cause it can justify all the wrong crap they do
