I’m not sure if you all understand this so I’ll try to explain. A scientologist WILL TAKE OFFENSE to any reference of their religion being based upon a fictional story. They believe in that origin as a reality.
were you there?? Can you say that Zoltar (or whomever that overlord was) didn’t exist? That he didnt’ do what they say he did?
no… like all religions I’ve encountered, their history is impossible to refute because the origin takes place in antiquity (or in the case of scientology, the infinite past)
What I’m trying to say is, this thread is already offensive to those who practice scientology.
Secondly, the scientologists have a habit of suing people into shutting up. Google itself is already subject to their will. To discuss scientology in anything but a good light here, has the chance, however small, to shut this board down. It is far more dangerous for us to discuss this religion than any other in existance right now.

A) Because this is a tech board
B) Because people get too upset with the discussions we’ve had in the past
C) Because any topic concerning religion IS GOING to upset someone.
Certain groups that call themself a religion, are actually big moneymachines where the cash always rolls up hill right into the pockets of the guru’s that invented these religions.
Yeah I agree some make a lot of money. But what pisses me off is when people get pissed when the offering plate gets passed around at Church. They think it’s all about the money, but the church has to function somehow. Im not sure how other religions work, but they must be getting money somehow as well.
But rarely the answer will be “i don’t know, and i don’t need to know”…
You are a very brave soul if you can do that after seeing people die around you all your life. Their conscious/soul/essence/whatever is going somewhere. If you think you can just not exist then try pondering that for a good while. It’s mind boggling to think of your own thoughts and mind just not existing anymore. So where do you go when you die? That was a big enough question to send me searching. Im not going to wait and find out after the fact.
I never said ppl do not have a right to believe, they have that right… And yes, everyone can “stand up” for whatever they belief… But when their “standing up” for belief cuts down someone elses belief or rights, they are on a wrong track… And eventually different religions always end up in a “cold” or bloody war. And that is normal, because human sense sais there can be only one truth, so there must be one true and all the rest must be false. Mine is true, not yours… that is how it starts… No one knows how it ends… Actually everyone knows how it ends, but everyone must always see it to believe it…
I must sound like a heiden to some, or a faithless person to someone others, but i believe… in myself, and others… God, Allah, or whatever they are called, do not live up there… it lives in all of us… It is the little voice inside you that makes you feel good when you do good, and makes you feel bad when you did bad things… For the rest, i’m only human, i don’t know where we come from, why we are here, or what to expect… I am gratefull for just being…
I find it very good that ppl, young and old talk about religion, when it can be done with respect. But like someone else already said, for some ppl just talking about it differently is a reason to go to court… or do other more violent things. I would like to see this conversation go on…

People can share there religions with other people. It’s when they take it too far that it is a problem. If someone outright rejects your faith and is not open to it then it’s best you just chill. Its when people continue to force their faith on someone else after they have rejected it that is the problem.
I understand what you mean, you are struggling a bit to understand what “nothing” is… you live, you see, there has always been something, so there must be something beyond the point of darkness.

Those are questions that are to big for a human mind… we cannot understand what “nothing” is… So it is easier to say, th universe was made by God, or Allah, or whatever, and when we die, we go to him… questions answerd, case closed, peace of mind…
Sometimes ppl get so convinced of their “truth” that they see no reason not to push others to believe the same… I’m affraid that will be something of all times, it happend many times in history, and it will happen many times again…
