Wow, huge let down.
If this thing is under $100 then I’ll get it. But man, I really duno what Nintendo is doing. I had high hopes for this too, darn…

Watch out Xbox!
I know they said they weren’t going for a powerful console, but ■■■■. But if the games are fun it won’t matter all that much. Still, that is pretty bad.
lol that would rock for a portable gaming device but for a concil that is extremley low compared to Xbox. They do a good job at gameplay but graphics do matter a little bit lol.
Soo, yeahh, it’s a few more Megahertz faster than the Xbox 1.
Mhz speed isn’t everything (haven’t we learned this from AMD and Intel anyway)…
fyi: It’s a PowerPC chip by the way
The graphics should still be decent - and Nintendo is banking on its innovative controller design anyway
I watched this long video conference on ign a while ago and it was really interesting. Basically the president of Nintendo said “what is going to happen when video game graphics come to a point where they are as realistic as actual life?” Sony and Microsoft’s main selling points are about graphics, nothing about new gaming experiences. Nintendo is hoping to bring weird things in with the revolution because they think everyone is sick of playing the same racing and shooter games all day. I donno sounds sorta interesting and sorta fluffy at the same time. All you need to know: you’ll be able to play golden eye and that’s all I care about.
Nope its not faster than xbox 1

Lets see if theyre controller saves the day
Not this time, homie… Doesn’t matter if the speed isn’t everything or whatever, the clock speed of the chip isn’t revolutionary, and the chip itself isn’t built on any super special foundation that will make it perform exceptionally well.
This system still has me hooked, if the pricepoint will be as good as speculated.
Hands down a much more attractive package than the dead-set ugly xbox 360 (though it didnt outdo its predecessor in terms of said aesthetics, or lack thereof), and hopefully a lot more useable; not to mention I know that i’ll enjoy the games a hell of a lot more than it’s number crunching competitors.
I think it’ll do what it needs to. But the tech-savvy kids tugging at their mothers coats for the most expensive and fastest system will end up being an untapped market, I think… pretty bad considering it’s easily the largest.
Either way, the main reason for purchase will be the snes/nes emulation
I really dont understand why people will pay for something they have played and beat 10+ years ago, its something I’m still baffled about i mean my xbox plays every console except DC, saturn and obviously current and next gen consoles, but I have all the emulators and roms but never could withstand playing one of those games no matter how much i loved them.
I find it disrespectfull they actually plan on chargin us for these outdated games, whats even worse is people pay for it
Its like buying the top of the line car cause it can do 300mph but you are only gonna be doing 55mph WTF people  :h:
It’s the viiiiibe man!
IMO something that’s once good is always good. It’s the same kinda thing as music - those that change their taste in music according to what everyone else is listening to - lets be honest, a huge majority of the population (id like to find the study again that backs this up with science), express a similar buying psyche of a key market (but not necessarily primary) for the 360 etc - new, whiz bang. The flaunting of machine specs speaks for itself.
I guess people want a real life experience more now in their gaming - Nintendo is just tapping into a different kind of ‘experience’ I think - not necessarily based on ultra-realism. Either way, as one of the linked articles above pointed out, some pretty great things were achieved visually on the GC, despite it’s technical shortcomings.
I think developers will be able to work pretty well with the revolution, and most will agree that PS and xbox are the ideal platform for software companies to spit out cheap games for quick sales.
As for the car analogy - i’d be more than happy to purchase an M6 and still abide by speed limits
Well everyone is buying an ipod does that mean i gotta buy one too? NO, to each his own but why pay for games you already paid for eons ago and you can play them on a pc, xbox, psp, dc mobile phones and many other devices.
it just doesnt make sense to me, it really dont, I cant even try to comprehend it D@mmit
Graphics don’t necessarily make game play. Games that are fun sell consoles, only the hardcore gamer buys something because the graphics chip has more power than a NASA satellite. Right now I am addicted to Guitar Hero. I think it is the best game ever in the history of games. It doesn’t have the best graphics, heck they aren’t even good. But, the game is fun, I have acctually though about buying a PS2 just to play that game (I play it at my bisuness partners house…I even bought my own guitar controller and keep it there).
I’m pretty sure you wont actually. Rareware isnt going to give up any of the gaming rights to Nintendo, other than the ones that Nintendo owns. Goldeneye included. That was the last i heard at least.
Don’t you guys know anything about gaming? Who cares about 3D graphics, and being able to kill things really quickly. As long as I can jump over the climbing vines and grab mushrooms, who cares?
i outgrew that about 15 years ago
Really? That’s the most fun game in the world… Halo and any other game I’ve ever played is just boring after that… [whisper]Except that California Games thing that let you mountain-bike, skate, and frisbee and stuff on the NES or something.[/whisper]
Well right now the most addictive game for me is burnout revenge online its just addictive and it gives you an umatched adrenaline rush, halo is another great game but burnout beats it with its simplicity fantastic game may I add :thumb:
Yeah, I guess the simplicity of SMB is what attracted me so much…
Hm, I heard about this the other day. I was slightly suprised at the news, however, you should understand that graphics and technical specs don’t make up a complete game experience. GCN’s Twilight Princess will be sure to dazzle many, and look at the graphics it’s capable of! Anyways, I doubt that this news will really affect the types of games the Rev will be able to produce.
