I was wondering if anyone out there had ever tried this:
- Use velum to draw an interface design (outline)
- Scan it
- Import into Photoshop7
- Then have the power to work with the image
I was wondering if anyone out there had ever tried this:
I have done that before to make my page look like a piece of paper that had random sketches…and you can interact with the sketches and scribbled notes…why did you wanna know?? You need help??
Definately…
I am designing an interface for MY business.
This is my very first time doing ANYTHING with Photoshop.
I am not satisfied with the layout so far.
I own tons of software, but havn’t studied too much
Everyone seems to think that Flash and Photoshop will
do the trick. Here is what I have put together so far.
note: If you scroll to the bottom of the page an ckick “box”
another project will appear
thanks
It is not bad for an initial start…some of the tubing/pipes looks kinda jagged like you cut them out of somewhere, the graidient look to have something appear in 3d is kinda played out in my opinion. It is very hard to come out with some nice professional results. I tend to do my layouts in a vector program first for the scalability factor. You are of to a good start let me know where I can be of assistance. You have not asked me a questions as of this pont. BTW the sticky post at the top of this board has a lot of tuts for creating those pipes you are after. I am curious what does that have to do with your sketch question earlier???
Well, I am unpleased with this interface. I plan to start all over. I was basically wondering if It were possible to layout the outline shape of the interface itself onto velum, then somehow release my drawing to its own layer in Photoshop, delete the “background” and go from there with the fill and 3d effects. In a nutshell, I can draw ANYTHING on paper, and it has been difficult for me to manipulate shapes in Photoshop.
What do you use for your initial vector images?
I own Fireworks MX, Freehand 10, and Illustrator 8.5
I also plan on modifying the hosing with more of a plastic look. Then apply liquid running thru them. Any input on that?
Also, I am rebuilding a site for a client.
As for now it really sucks. It was an overnite project.
Any suggestions on how to implement this info. in the same 3d type fashion?

And do you have any sites out there I can view? (just curious as to what type of artist I am speaking with)
If this design is for your business, I’d ask, “Who is your target audience?”, “What’s their average age?”, “What are their hobbies?” and other similar questions.
Overall I think the design is ok, but personally this type of thing has been done before, and you really have to possess superb skills in order for it not to look cheap and cheesey.

Yea, good point…
That machine interface stuff is pretty common. Hmmm
Oh yea, my target audience ranges from teens to grandparents.
I provide many services. This interface is for my photography and art on paper as well as the PC ( www.jmkm.com ) I also own
www.jmkm.net
Which will focus on multimedia presentation work I do for high schools, family reunions, graduations…ect…
I plan to create a movie theatre type theme for this site.
Thanks guys
