Ok, I feel like an idiot asking this question again, but I don’t understand the answers that I was given and after trying to find out more about publishing I am more confused than ever. I am trying to figure out how to publish my first page in html and detect what the user has, giving them the option to go into the flash site or just stay in the html version. But the problem is I learned this backwards, and I don’t know html, so I know I am screwed, but anyway I checked out the detection thing at macromedia but I don’t understand what they are talking about… I downloaded it but I just don’t know, can someone explain this really easy for me??? oh i am using flash mx
Well when you publish your Movie, it should automatically detect if the viewer has the proper plug-in, and if not it should prompt them to download it.
I don’t know what it isn’t doing that.
But here are some things you can do…
Go to File/Publish Settings, then click on the HTML tab. Under the “Template” drop down box select “Detect for Flash 6”, you can click on the info button to see what that does.
And last but not least, you can just add a link to download the Flash plug-in on your page so if they can’t see the movie, they can download the plugin…
