I didnt know where to put this post but I suppose here is as good as any…

Hey, when you guys are designing a website what do you do about different screen resolutions that people have? In the past I’ve always just designed to my resolution and not thought about t’others! One way is to make the site in all the resolutions I guess, but that would take me too long!

What do you think? :beam:

Last stats I saw was that 50% of the visitors use 800x600. So… I usually go for 750x400 centered in the page. This allows for toolbars, and such…

I find that is about as much as you can squeeze out of a typical visitor…

Cheers Rev, what about sites that arent flash? How would I sort that out?

In order to not have scroll bars across the bottom, try to keep the width at a maximum of 750px., or smaller, as a lot of people surf without maximizing windows (both Ren & I surf this way).

the vert scroll is always going to be there in HTML…

Cool thansk Rev.

Is that the only way?

  • Soul :goatee:

of course not, but the only way I make sites…

someone else here will chime in soon…

Yeah, I agree with the rev. I try to keep all sites and animations within 765 pixels so people on 800x600 resolutions will still be able to view pages without a problem.

Cheers!
