[EDIT by Kitiara] Is this a submission for SotW? Do you work for Sony? Did you make this site? I’m assuming ‘no’ on all three counts.

Please do not post stuff like this is SotW threads. I <i>will</i> get angry. Keep it to Random or Site Check, otherwise I’m just going to delete straight away. [/EDIT]</b>

Congratulations to Sense for winning this week’s SOTW! You will be featured on the main page of Kirupa.com for this week. You may also post a graphical award from this page: http://www.kirupa.com/gallery/awards.htm

Good job to all the participants. One of the valuable aspects of SOTW is to get valuable feedback about your site and get an idea of how well it stands beside some of the best on the web. Mod critiques will be posted shortly.

Miss Weblash: Same as last week.

Like I mentioned last week, the site is really good!

I like the color, they jump out at shouting “creativity”. Site has its own style compared the the other sites on here. The interface got confusing at times and looks like the audience would be small youth. Not my type of site, but I have to give it to her that the color scheme is great and the vectors are very creative.

Same as last week.

Liamegan: Very quick to load, which is getting to be something of a novelty. Nice to look at as well, it’s a clean layout, and the yellow just gives it that bit of colour it needs (not to mention that you can change this if you don’t like it. The menu is nice, though the fact that it’s hidden to start with could fox some newbie users. The text in some areas is very tiny though and impossible to read. The instructions to the posting comments for example.

Pretty cool site with a nice color and navigation setup. Overall, the site is excellent, but you may want to experiment with different fonts to make site livelier. Also, I am wondering if your fonts are embedded?

I liked this but there was a lot of empty links. The menu was great, but the rest of the sites layout looks very similar to many sites I see these days. None the less it is a good site, but not my style.

Nice site, with a good menu, even though the font is sometimes NOT embedded, which looks awful. And the “Exploding type” in the playground looks strangely familiar… Care to share the code?

JMS: I liked the colours on that main image, it’s so striking. Good to see that carried on through the site as well. The transitions are fast and there’s no hanging around. Navigation is clear and concise. I particularly like this, because it’s a very text heavy, corporate site, but the design doesn’t make it look that way.

I liked this site the most. The color scheme was perfect for a corporate site and the transitions are smooth and not carried away with too much like most sites will do. Content is easy to find and they get their point across. Suprised I was the only one that voted for it.

A really excellent site. The corporate look and clean layout are done well. You may want to work on the large image on the home page - I noticed some jagged edges that detract from the overall professionalism of the site.

Not a huge fan of Corporate sites, but this is very well done, I like it.

Cheez00: Initially a bit confusing with the three options. A new user is left wondering what the difference between them is. As far as I can see it’s just a ‘pick your colour scheme’, but you might want to clarify that. The red and the blue schemes are a little more difficult to see against the black, however. Nice plain vector work on the interface, though it’s a little small on a high res monitor, and the right alignment is a bit unusual. Some nice Flash work on here, but not quite SotW.

Interesting layout, but I think there is too much dark space. You may want to work on your color schemes, and also, instead of having an option for picking the color, use movie clips to set the color from within the movie itself using Flash’s color. Good work on the portfolio and navigation though.

Site is very choppy. Unique style, but for some reason it just isn’t my thing. Negative space anyone?

Font is blurred, preloader doesn’t appear right away, colors too dark, and the data appears in a tiny window, whereas your site is almost full screen.

Blastboy: You’ve already had a detailed crit from me on this, so I won’t repeat it again. To summarise though, I like the colours, images and style of this, but I think it could use some more content.

Nice colors, nice layout, cool preloader, and good use of sound. Good work.

Not much content to look at, but the transitions were not bad. They should go back to the lab and add more to the site to attract my attention. Again, I hate to say it, but pop-ups people. What the hell are you thinking they are annoying!!!

Simple, clean… empty

Jael2222: Not often we get a fan site in SotW, so this is an interesting site to view. I’m not particularly fond of the font, but it works nicely with the lower case. It’s a very blue site, but the images and spacing break it up a little, which is good. Nice choice of images, though that’s not surprising with Eva. My major criticism here would be that although it’s built in Flash, it doesn’t make as much use of it as perhaps it could.

Nice artwork. The site is very good, but you may want to change the blue background graphic and the font. Overall, a very nice site with some great animations such as the falling leaves.

The animations on the page were well done, but I highly dislike the font and the layout style (buttons).

Nice, but it could be good to add some motion here and there. I mean, it’s about an anime, right?

Suki: Lovely, lovely looking site. This is one that I happily sat down and watched the intro for as well, and it made made laugh too which is even better. The artwork was fantastic, and the character so well animated… To be honest, I’ve been doing nothing but watching his little interactions for a good ten minutes (loved the exploding speakers podium). It’s great, so easy to use and beautiful to look at. Only probem was I didn’t understand the French…

Very nice site. The cartooning/animation is really nice! I am not a big fan of the color scheme, but overall, the site is well done.

I love the cartoon. I couldn’t understand the language, but I cannot dock him ranking for that. I found my way around and liked the feel of the site, very unique. I think there was about 2 colors used throughout the whole site, but I don’t mind that sites don’t exactly have to represent the whole spectrum of colors.

Très fort pour les créas, mais le site est un peu… épuré, je trouve

Daedelus: Kind of gothic looking, with the red and black colours, but it grows on you. Lots of pop ups going on though, which can become irritating after a while. I quite liked the main font, but the text that appears underneath the menu bar is virtually unreadable, especially in red.

Bah - popup window! The site, overall, is pretty nice but predictable. You may want to engage the visitors with some animations, etc. This would be a good site done purely in HTML.

Looks like a preloader, a few buttons, and scrollbars. I also absolutely hate pop-ups.

What’s up with the pop-up with a huge scroll?? Also, I’m not too fond of the font.

Sense: Unusual choice in colours, but it works well. It looks great, is quick to load up and you can easily find your way around. It’s a very well put together site, the content is well laid out and transitions between sections are perfectly smooth. Good use of images as well here. I like this a lot.

Wow! Great colors, text, layout, etc. Brilliant site.

I like the colors and the background images. I didn’t like the transitions as much, I think he/she should have used an offset color like a lower tint tan color. The transitions aren’t as smooth and realistic as I would have liked. I diskliked the book background, it could have been made more professional, too basic for me.

Awesomness! I love that site, great job.

Tisse: Kind of a commonly used layout, but that’s nothing really detrimental. It’s a dark colour scheme for the most part, although the deep blue makes the text stand out more. I liked the section at the bottom, with the moveable window, that worked nicely. This seemed to be a very text based site.

Very nice site. The site, overall, is quite plain with large amounts of text - which isn’t necessarily bad, but a few images to break the monotony would be good.

I see sites like this everywhere, but they did a well job at attaining the look. It looks like a site put together by tutorials and nothing by their own ingenuity. I do like the color blue, but the whole site was flooded blue, it is too dark to be used as the entire site layout.

Nice, clean, but too dark and “austère” (no idea how I can say that in English).
