Phone Ninja
-This site is down when I tried to view it right now, but I’ve already seen it when it was posted in Site Check. I know that this site is meant as fun and humor, but SOTW isn’t based on how funny or rediculous a site looks.
-There’s nothing about this site I like.
-Is this for real? Or is it just ironic and I’m missing the point? The colour scheme is quite Eastern I guess, but where on Earth does the dog come into it? And those rollover buttons with the arms… On the good side the menu was clear to follow, but parts of it were still under construction and the contact button managed to open the mail beneath the current window, so it looked like it was doing nothing. Not SotW material.
Pod Speakers
-Very nice Mondrian style layout with the grey scale color scheme that helps draw attention to the color images. What I didn’t like is the initial loading sequence, it’s a bit long. I also thought the site is pretty quite for a site premoting speakers, how about some sound? You can animate one of those sleek looking speakers and make appear like it’s actually pumping out music. I mean it wouldn’t be exactly how it would sound like in actual real life, but it would give create a nice mood for the viewer while browsing the site. What comes to my mind is a nice Jazzy funk beat, that would be nice, but then again that’s just me.
-A beautiful site, nice and clean, with good photographic work and smooth animation. The intro is maybe a little lengthy, so a Skip button would have been nice as an option. I like the understated colours, it makes the photographs stand out more. I also like the double nav - although your attention is drawn to the lower boxes, you can still access everything from the top as well. Great site.
-Very nice, I like the colors, simple without being too simple, the navigation is clear and easy, the transitions are nice, the option for different languages is a plus. The double navigation is bit pointless, but other than that your site is very professional and to the point, it advertises your product well.
-nicely put together. Ran a little slow and chunky on my machine, but it’s pretty old, and I’m sure your target demigraphic will have better computers.
Kel Design
-Absolutely clean layout, very laid out well and organized. The only thing I would change about the layout is the transition sound, it doesn’t match the layout at all.
-I still think this is a good site, and has come on since it first appeared in SotW. It’s quick to load, and there’s a whole lot of information on there, which is great for users. The bouncing smileys are a nice touch, add to that the fact that you can blow them up which appeals to my sadistic side.
-works well, but the font is too small. I had to strain to read the site.
-Your site definitely keeps inproving man, this is great. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that it resembled the Fonts For Flash website a bit too much in some ways.
Virtually Lost
- Your splash page is really messing and cluttered with text.
- You intro doesn’t have a skip feature which was annoying.
- Your intro is too slow and too long.
- Graphics are really sloppy and pixelated.
- You have a nice concept, but it was poorly put together.
-intro page is way to wordy. no skip intro button. mystery meat navigation. Lost interest.
-Can you say lost 1 more time in that splash page (aside from having too much text already)? You don’t define a default HTML background color, so it goes by my default background color. A white square title image on a tan background doesn’t really fit too well. Page transitions in HTML are tacky. A skip intro button would be nice. Your image quality was low and pixelated, which took a lot from the design. I wasn’t too fond of the mystery meat navigation either, I like to know what I am clicking on before I click on it. The transitions and concepts were nice, they just don’t have that professional flare (image quality again).
-All those words, and I have no idea what the site is actually about. Again a Skip Intro would have been nice here. The next page is confusing as hell, and still gives me no clues as to what’s going on. Then it opens a pop up, by which time yes, I am well
and truly lost. Complete mystery navigation.
WE K END
-Hmm…I spent 5 min on the site and left quickly. I have no idea what the site is about and the color scheme is a bit harsh. Numbering the buttons doesn’t tell you what it really is and where it’s going to take you. Overall I thought the site is pointless…
-The colour is a bit bright on the eye, and the navigation doesn’t really give much in the way of help. What’s 01, 02 etc? How is that supposed to help people find their way? Even after clicking on everything that it was possible to click on, nothing much seemed to happen, and what did happen was easily missable.
-did not understand how to navigate site. gave up.
-I don’t get it. Your navigation is buttons numbered 1 through 4, which tells nothing about the section you are going to. But after clicking buttons 1 through 4 you then find out there are no sections, those buttons just play animations to reveal content which I have no clue is about. I agree this looks more like a flyer or an ad than a site.
Synaptic Chill
-Very funky, definitely a site that’s going for the trendy look. It was quite minimalist in some ways, but it was easy to use and move around in, gave you plenty of information and was quick to loadDJHoj each section so you weren’t hanging around.
-Cool trendy layout with a nice color scheme. I didn’t how much negative space there is and the lack of or should I say inconsistence of graphics. The first section has a nice graphic image, then the rest is just text which seems a bit off balance to me.
-I do like the color scheme, but thats about it. Other than that, the negative space is overwhelming, especially on my 800x600 browser. Yes your splash page says minimum 1024x768, but you have to take in account useability, and sites designed only for large monitors get decreased points in useability for me, since the majority of web users still use 800x600. Your whole site just seemed to be “resize… show text… repeat”, it needs to be livened up/evened out with some images, you have some nice ones every now and then through the site, but overall your site was just text text text.
-enter button way too small. Font way too small

-First impression is ‘cool’. I like this, it’s nice looking and not too busy, even though there’s a fair bit of information on here. A couple of the nav titles were misleading, I didn’t know Rant was going to bring up a mini message board for example. My one gripe would be that the animations could be faster and smoother, sometimes they’re a little jerky. Some great photography on here though.
-Yay, I site that has already been critiqued in Site Check that didn’t bother to make the changes. Cool, now I can skip this one and move on to the next.
-enter button too small, way too much info on splash page. nicely done. rant section empty. Nice use of anti-aliased text, yet not fuzzy.
-That 45 degree angle layout has been done to death. And a lot of things about this site were obviously influenced by 2A. Like the 3 boxes on the bototm, and pretty much all the boxes in any of the sections that involved an up and down button. The text was a bit too chunky, bold, and blurry for my taste.

-As a rule I hate splash pages, but this one with the little pixel figures made me smile. I think I’m getting much more in pixel art. Inside, it’s lovely to look at. I will admit that the menu system is a little unconventional, but as soon as you realised what was going on, then it was fine. I like the different artistic styles employed here, and the way they’re put together. It’s quite active when loading a new section, but once inside it’s calmer, so there’s a nice contrast. I really like that.
-This is one of the better sites from all the entries this week. It’s nicely designed with a nice concept. The graphics are clean, but the text is a bit small. Also the loading time between sections is a bit long and I’m on a really fast connection too.
-This is ineed one of the better sites this week, I like it a lot, but it is not without it’s flaws. That navigation element is a terror to use, the tops and sides of the boxes are all leading to different areas of content AND you don’t know that until you mouse over and see the are it goes to in a seperate box area. The text is also way too small. Other than that, loved it.
-mystery meat navigation. Too trendy of layout for my taste.
Jontom
-Another good one with an interesting layout. The major problem with this one is the text, it’s extreamly small and on top of that it’s on a black background which makes it almost imposible to read.
-That font is tiny and almost impossible to read, not only is it the size that makes it hard to read, it is also the style of the font and the background it is on. The overall layout is nice, and the background motion blur is as well, but the font itself took a lot of points away since it was so hard to read. I don’t like when I have to strain to read a site.
-could you make the font any smaller? I got a migraine trying to stick it out and critique this site. Boo!
