Yea, i was just watching tv and i saw the commercial for this movie. it looks pretty cool, especially since sean connery is in it. what do u guys think about it?

I’m waiting to be impreshed
the previews look good, but it may just be another stupid superhero movie. it has potential, but Connery’s accent is going to be the the ticket.
If you want to be impressed you should go out and find the graphic novel “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”. The book is a great romp in plot, characterization and subtle sexual/industrial visuals.
A movie will 98% of the time be subpar to the original story.
Conery will be cool, but there was something to be said for a female leading people like Nemo and Quartermain around that had a luster to it. As she is a vampire (and a creation of the oldest and most powerful of all vampires, Dracule himself), she definitely has the power and will to do such a feat. But, Connery is in the movie, and you can’t have a chick browbeating 007, so she obviously was made to take a backseat to the male machismo machine. That’s just kind of sad as I thought that we were getting over that sort of thing.
Second thing that will probebly suck is the alteration of the invisible man storyline. According to the original, he’s living in 19th century Britain, and he’s completely unable to become visible. Everyone thinks he’s dead (for reasons in the origional story) so what is he to do with himself? Well obviously he finds himself a nice young ladies boarding house, sets up shop disguised as a polterguist, and he begins to systematicaly rape the women of the school. He ends up being put in his place by the vampire, and forced to work for her team, lest they lock him away forever.
You’ll never see that sort of story played out in the movies. It’s completely realistic, and therefore good literature, but producers will never ever let that sort of thing fly.
There are other things that will be altered to fit what they deam acceptable for the masses, or what their statistics say the majority wants to see, and it will end up making the movie crap.
However, if you’re one of those people that just likes to see a lot of explosions without much substance, best get some tickets and a big tub of popcorn. Maybe catch a double feature with TombRaider’s new flick.
(I actually enjoyed TombRaider 1 and will love the next one… I just don’t expect to be challenged much by it. I get a lot more bitter about stories I enjoy, raped by the Holywood chop shop.)
where can i find this book novel thing?
serious comic shops. You’re run of the mill shops and bookstores probebly wont have it. (though if the movie is popular enough, anything can happen)
