How do you locate yourself politically? Question to me by one of my professors, and it made me think long and hard…
Just wondering what most of you would say (NO FLAME WARS!!!)? Would you say your active (and how so) would you say you’re active and a conservative? or a liberal who votes that way but doesnt know anything about politics? Whats your political bio? etc…
NO SHAME HERE
The vast majority is not informed, so dont feel sheepish to say you dont know s h i t or that you dont care (that is a political statement as well)… or if you think you know everything let us know too!! Also it seems we have a younger crowd among us - even though you cant vote what do you think? Do you have an opinion? do you not pay attention to things because you cant vote (that is fine I dont want anyone to feel inhibited to say something, all viewpoints are valid, and a lack of one is one too!)??
I would’ve created a poll for this, but there are far too many options to do so!
I guess I just got curious… cant wait to see what people post!!
I know they decide the future of our country and stuff, but I could never follow them. And well… if I can’t follow it, and they bore me, and I have no clue about anything with it, I would much rather leave myself out of it, then be the one vote that decided the future in the wrong way because I didn’t know what I was doing.
LOST… you definitly represent the majority of the citizens of the US… it is interesting to see how so many people have made: “I am not informed enough to make a proper [vote]”; a political statement.
Peace
PS. nothing bad meant at all, just generalizing stats.
Oh, I definitely can believe that my opinion is the same as a majority of america. Perhaps when I get older I will get more into politics (as I am 18 now), but right now I don’t think it would be right for me to just vote to vote when I know nothing about what I am voting on.
It is not a good excuse not to vote, since it is the future of our country and I should keep up with it, but it is the only excuse I have…lol.
I’m an independent that’s for sure… but it’s a broad subject. I could rant endlessly about Democracy, Socialism, Liberal/Conservative, Democrat/Republican.
I don’t think anyone wants me to wind bag it.
I believe in myself, I believe in society, I believe in morality
that will sway my vote, and lead me to which ever party I believe honestly offers the best options for those three things. Usually that’s an independent party.
I’d say I’m a liberal, but that’s redundant at this point in our relationship. Let it just be said that I adhire to the dictionary definition of liberal with regards to being so. I have always had the impression that the democrats being bashed for liberal nature is a pretty sick practice. If you’ve ever found yourself listening to Rush Limbaugh, and he’s liberal bashing, and you’re agreeing with him… take the dictionary off the shelf and go look up the words “liberal”, and “conservative”. If you’re still laughing with Rush, then you didn’t understand the definition.
I would locate myself just outside Cognito. If I had to move, I would prob move to Communicado. If that didn’t work out, I would stop by Tienda, just to see if I could work things out. If that finally didn’t come through, then I would prob be banned to Perfecto.
:beam:
That is how I would locate myself, politically.
yes, I know I took big liberties with these puns
Monster Raving Loony. I’m with Screaming Lord Sutch.
Seriously, although this isn’t my actual political leaning, the Monster Raving Loonies are a real party over here in England. :sure:
Mainly we’ve got Conservative (Tory) and Labour (who are in power at the moment, although not quite in control). They’re both as bad as each other to be honest, whinging about the legacies of the past Government and making a lot of vague promises whilst not delivering much. There’s the liberal Democrats, who are slightly more sensible, but haven’t got a chance in hell of actually getting in. Then there’s the smaller little parties like the Greens, SDP, Nationalists…
Personally, I couldn’t give a monkeys about any of them. They all seem to be a load of empty promises, obsessed with spin and moaning about everything under the sun. You can’t trust them to do the right thing or spend money wisely.
Last election, I was never going to vote for Labour as I disagree with the majority of their policies (charging thousands for a University education, abolition of grammar schools, grants etc), but neither could I bring myself to vote Tory.
I thank you. I know that I really ought to be making a stand for whichever party I believe in, but therein lies the trouble. I think they’re all pants.
thankfully, in Scotland the Conservatives are practically dead. I am in favour of independence for this country which would lead me to the Scottish National Party or Scottish Socialist Party. Unfortunately I don’t think either are quite ready to run a country yet. I would probably vote for the Socialist party, they don’t have a chance of taking power, but their leader Tommy Sheridan is one of the few politicians with morals having taken a much lower wage than was offered to him and frequently being arrested while protesting for his principles.
I would go with the Monster Raving Loony Party if Screaming Lord Such hadn’t hanged himself with a muli-coloured skipping rope. They lack leadership now.
