I will definitely be getting a mac as soon as i can afford one.
There is no firmware restore disk, this process will not really risk your firmware. Worst thing that can happen is both your partitions bite the dust then you have to use disk utility form the install disk and clean off the drive and Erase Install.
And yes, not booting is their problem, that doesn’t go to say that they wont erase and install Mac OS X and trash all your windows partitions:)
Edit: oops:pa:
Err, yes there is. I just read about it somewhere… I’m studying now, so I can’t find it.
trust me there is no disk to do that…
If there is, it’s third party.
hell!!! public beta?
i want a mac:(
Finally, the one main thing missing from them new intel macs!
I guess I don’t have to happily tute my horn anymore. Y’all will buy one anyways, right?
I wouldn’t dare taint my mac. That’s just eww.
AH!! Nothing is stopping me from getting a Mac G4 now… Except my money
…except G4 doesn’t have an Intel processor.
Apple donminate only 5% of the international computer market. This move will change this for sure, now more companies around the world will develop apps for apple as the number of people buying the elegant apple machines will increase.
It’s just a matter of time when these ppl will start give OSX a look and then who knows, they might like it and leave windows.
At this stage, no one can predict what could happen.
For now, the money has spoken !
check out Apple stock share after the announcement
Apple donminate only 5% of the international computer market.
Actually 7%
What if you did the Windows thing on a separate HD? (external?)
That’d be safer, eh?
but not possible with the beta, it will only boot windows partitions from the internal drive, USB and Firewire drives are not recognized by the bootloader yet.
so this will be available in late 2006 or early 2007?
not that i know of, Its a hardware limitation as of right now
To make this choice simply irresistible, Apple will include technology in the next major release of Mac OS X, Leopard, that lets you install and run the Windows XP operating system on your Mac. Called Boot Camp (for now), you can download a public beta today.
so i guess it’s beta until leopard?
I was going to buy a new PC, earlier this yr, but I had to wait longer to save up. But now with this announcement, seems like my next computer is going to be a MAC. Glad I waited!
yeah, it’s cheaper than paying testers:D
be funny if this backfires on Apple and people just wanna have a pretty and might I add expensive Windows PC  and not use the Mac OSX I think they shouldve made it like a virtual console an App running in OSX and not having it run on its own.
If it would have been a virtual console people would still be forced to use OSX but this way theyre just avoiding booting up OSX, I dont understand why a mac user would do something like this i would find it insulting, whats the use of having a Mac then if your gonna just install windows on it? :h:
