But… it’s still crap next to OS X, and we all know it.
Uh, who knows it? I have only used windows my entire life. I have only touched a mac a few times.
You know, I think apple should fully support windows and bundle xp/vista with their computers along with OSX. Dunno if microsoft would allow it or not, but it would definitely make me, and other borderline pc users, step off the edge.
I’m not saying you have to buy a computer with 16 gigs of ram, you can get that machine quite a bit more cost effective with 1gig of ram. I mentioned that this (somewhat) cost effective machine has the ABILITY to upgrade to 16 gigs of ram. The only equivelent to this machine (in PC) upgradability wise, is rackmount and costs $16,000 (and still only comes with 1 gig of ram).
If you take everything into account, the PowerMac series is actually quite a bit cheaper than the equivilent in PC hardware. I can’t wait until the MacPro is out, I’ve been saving my money:).
They say it’s a beta for this software which will be in the NEXT release of OS X… That doesn’t make sense since it runs perfectly on the current release of OS X. Doesn’t this make anyone else believe that what we’re really testing for is the seamless integration of Windows and OS X programs at once?
huh? the only part of your post i responded to was the part about stock prices and that was a general comment which could pertain to any publicly traded company. as far as making you look like a mac zealot, i’m not trying to do anything. in fact, i think you do a pretty good job of that on your own. anyway, the whole osx vs. vista thing doesn’t really interest me and i don’t really know enough about it to comment or respond to anyone’s flames. what does interest me is the consumers’ view of the 2 brands, so i do comment on that.
I take it the next version of OSX will be optimized for Intel Processors…or is that already the case with the present version?? don’t really know much about it.
The thing Apple have going for them though is their OS cycle time, if they release the next version of OSX before or near January then they would of released like 2 or 3 major OS versions to Microsofts 1 which is really very good.
NeXTSTEP has always been universal, and therefore OSX. It’s completely native, and if you look at the build numbers, you’ll notice they are different on Intel and PPC for the same OS.
@bwh2 I apologize for being a bit brash and getting a little edgy over the whole topic. Oh, and about my profile… I don’t really share my personal information so I didn’t have much to put there. Appearances arent everything
While I may be strongly biased, and very ready to defend myself argumentatively, I find it unfair to say that I haven’t used the product or read both sides of it. I have read about Vista plenty, and do read the discussions on this forum and other places (I am subscribed to the TUMW, after all, among many Microsoft blogs). I agree it was a stupid thing to say, but it was not because I have not heard both sides of the argument, or that I’m ignorant of the product.
Additionally, Vista is not relevant to this thread.
Windows or Mac, just be thankful you got a computer. There is alot of considerations to question, especially cost but with the fun of customising and oozing your tongue out with the parts you can buy for a PC, I take much more fun it that. It’s like playing with Lego again but this time you got the AMD chip, the Zalman fan, the GFX card, the PSU, HDD, whatever. Windows has had major security issues that don’t obviously affect Mac but it comes down to being a smart user.
my bro installed XP in his iMac coreDuo, it’s perfect, now we can play all the games that we ever wished to, and a lot of stuff that we had to do in VPC (Virtual PC) that required a lot of time, now it runs perfectly
and my bro says the partitioner that came with boot camp is the best he has ever seen, pretty cool aint it?
i wish that games and other stuff still come to OSX… what if new software says something like this? :
System Requirements:
[]Get BootCamp.
[]Install Windows XP.
[]Run Windows.
[]Follow the Windows Instalation “readme”.
