Creation or Evolution

assuming one is not as happy as one can be, without asking, is imposing…

Rev

assuming is imposing?

way to pick out a word! do you want to debate the meaning of the word ‘is’ next?

assuming one is not happy, just because he thinks differently than you is imposing you views on them, even if you say nothing to them…

Rev

so not speaking is also imposing? Thought is imposing?

only because you consider yourself happier because of your faith.

yes, thoughts can be imposing. If I choose to ignore you, it will not stop you from imposing your views on me…

The Mormons believe that it is their responsibility to keep in contact with all non-active members. Even though they may not speak to those inactive members, just by having their name on a list for someone to pray for them, is imposing their views on that person.

I also find it interesting that “Christians” rarely speak of the lessons Christ taught about tolerance of others…

Rev

So, because I feel something or because I think something it is an imposition to you if you don’t feel or think the way I do? So, before I think or feel, I should get your consensus?

you should be more considerate of the fact that others may believe differently than you, and still be very happy, content, etc…

If you are thinking that you are happier because of your faith, then you are being arrogant, and are imposing your views on anyone you consider less happy than you.

When you hold others to your standards, that is imposing your views on them, whether you speak directly to them or not.

Rev

but you telling me what I can and can’t feel or think is not imposing? By your standards then no one can think or feel withpout first consulting every other person. Or, are you just being hypocritical of my beliefs?

no, I do not suppose that I am happier than anyone else. That is the difference. Again you pick one word and go with it…

I did not say you can’t think on your own. I said thinking that someone will be happier if they know what you know (or that you are happier than them because of your views) is imposing your views on them.

Rev

so every advertiser is doing something morally wrong by telling you that they have something that will make you happier?

they are imposing their views on the public, yes.

Rev

and that is wrong?

Of course it’s wrong, do you really want to ally your side with Madison Avenue?

Advertisers lie, cheat, steal, and everything else that is base. And you want to compare yourself to them?

With advertising, it is an accepted evil by society. We accept it as a way to help pay for inexpensive items which would be much more expensive without advertising.

If you want to be lumped together with the Advertising Agencies, fine. I wouldn’t, but you may if you wish.

Rev

But you are saying we should accept what advertisers do right? they have a right under our system to do what they do. Should I not have the same right?

advertisers pay for that right.

did you?

Rev

Sure, I pay taxes and I served this country in our military. I am an employer, so I enable others to afford the American dream. How much more paying would you like from me? And with that how much do you pay to impose (by your definition) your belifes on me?

did you pay specifically for the right to impose your views on others?

no, you did not. You have not paid any more than anyone else walking on this planet to impose your views on others.

so no, you did not pay for that right.

Rev

But advertisers have?

yes, they pay millions of dollars, so that we can get relatively cheap television, radio, newspapers, magazines, etc., all specifically for the right to impose their views on the public.

How much have you paid specifically for that right?

Rev

The company which I own that sells products and services pays for advertising…I guess I do have the right huh?
