How much should a client expect for say $1000?

This is something that you’ll have to get used to… Companies pay money to have something that works, and isn’t horrible on the eyes. If it works and works well, then it’s golden.

First of all $60k for that law site is a reasonable amount. That’s how much professional sites cost. It’s a very nice site.

The price for that lawsite is about spot on.

You charge by the hour out here in the “real.”

Sites can easily be 15-30K+

Say someone charges $100/hour.

20 hours for database structure
60 hours for interface development
60 hours for CMS

at 14,000 already.

It comes down to if you have the talent to charge that rate, and how much time do you spend on it. It’s wiser to charge hourly than just saying “yeah i can do that for 1000k” because “yeah i can do that” can turn into 4 weeks of work.

“yeah I can do that” - $1000k[/U]
4 weeks * 40hrs/week is 160 hours a month which makes about $6.25 an hour.

If you do websites for that much, you’d be better off working at a grocery store.

I’m not being mean just trying to educate and help those of you who can, make the money you deserve.

Thanks clare… almost didn’t see this post, being consumed in all those "this site was made for so-and-so $.

Ill try putting a bit more glow into the edges… see how it fits.
